Hurricane

A New Orleans classic. Double the rum (compared to other cocktails) lifts this drink into the ultra-potent category. It is another of the classics that inspired its very own cocktail glass. The hurricane glass is similar in shape to a hurricane lamp. It has a short stem and a tall curved bowl which typically holds 14 to 20 ounces. In addition to hurricanes, hurricane glasses are also great for other tropical drinks, the Bloody Mary, or frozen drinks.

  • 1 1/2 oz. dark rum
  • 1 oz. light rum
  • 1/2 oz. passion fruit juice
  • 1 1/2 oz. fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz. pineapple juice
  • Dash of Angostura bitters
  • Pineapple Wedge
  • Lime Wedge
In a cocktail shaker with ice, vigorously shake the liquid ingredients. Strain into an ice filled hurricane glass, then garnish with the pineapple and lime wedges.
