Mexican Sidecar

Sidecars are my favorite, they are cozy, elegant drinks that are equally at home in either a martini glass or a coupe. So when I came across this recipe I had to run out and buy some tequila. Originally the recipe called for Cointreau and simple syrup. However, I've swapped those for ingredients that should really belong in a Mexican Sidecar.

  • Sugar
  • lemon twist
  • 2oz. reposado tequila
  • 1oz. Patron Citronge Orange Liqueur
  • 1oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 1oz. fresh orange juice
  • .25 - .5 oz. agave syrup

Rub the rim of a chilled cocktail glass with a lemon wedge (or just use the lemon you just juiced) then rim with sugar. Put the liquid ingredients in an ice filled cocktail shaker and shake aggressively. Strain the drink into the rimmed cocktail glass and garnish with the lemon twist.
